Supporting the JPMF

Donations

The John Petropoulos Memorial Fund (JPMF) is a registered Canadian charity that gratefully accepts contributions to support our work. If you’d like to support the JPMF, there are several ways to make a difference.

General Donations

No matter how big or small the contribution, your donation helps the JPMF deliver its workplace and traffic safety messages on behalf of emergency responders.

Online – We are a registered member of CanadaHelps.org, an organization that helps charities receive online donations. You can donate safely and securely to the JPMF through CanadaHelps.org. Several giving options exist, including one-time or repeating donations or the opportunity to make donations in honour of someone else. Charitable tax receipts are available through CanadaHelps.org.

In Person – Call 403-891-4269 to set up an appointment with someone from the JPMF or to discuss donation options.

By Mail – Send a cheque, made payable to “John Petropoulos Memorial Fund” to # 347, 440 – 10816 Macleod Tr. SE, Calgary, AB, T2J 5N8. (Please do not mail cash). Please provide donor information and a return address if you would like to receive a charitable tax receipt.

Memorial and Tribute Gifts

If you wish to honour the memory of a friend or relative by making a memorial donation in their name, the JPMF will notify the family that you made a gift, but will not specify the amount. As well, contributions can be made to mark special events, such as graduations, birthdays or weddings. The JPMF will send congratulations to the honoured party to let them know you thought of them in this special way. Please contact JPMF Managing Director Ian Wilson at ian@jpmf.ca for more details.

Gifts In Kind

Gifts in kind are another excellent way of supporting the Memorial Fund. Merchandise and gift certificates can be used as prizes at fundraisers, as rewards in JPMF contests or to recognize the valuable contributions of JPMF volunteers. Services or commercial space can also be invaluable in helping the JPMF deliver its workplace and traffic safety message to the public. To fill out a gift-in-kind form, download our In-Kind Donation Form. Once completed, mail the form to the JPMF address listed above or email a copy to JPMF Managing Director Ian Wilson at ian@jpmf.ca.

Planned Giving

This allows you to give to the Memorial Fund without impacting your current financial situation. It involves contributions through wills, life insurance policies, real estate transactions and other financial/legal instruments. To arrange for a planned gift, consult with a financial or estate planner, lawyer or accountant. If you have specific questions for the JPMF regarding planned giving, contact JPMF Managing Director Ian Wilson at ian@jpmf.ca.

Sponsorships

Campaign Sponsors

Sponsors are an integral part of our safety campaigns. By providing financial assistance or in-kind services, equipment and personnel, campaign sponsors help ensure that our resources – safety videos, public service announcements, posters, online properties, social networking sites and other materials – are not only created but that they are promoted to the public. Campaign sponsors provide crucial funding, personnel and services to our initiatives. In-kind campaign sponsors provide such valuable services as advertising space and airtime, as well as the use of vehicles, workplaces and personnel. These sponsors are recognized through our website, social networking sites, relevant press materials, relevant printed materials and at events we participate in or host. To become a sponsor of the Put Yourself in Our Boots campaign, contact Managing Director Ian Wilson at ian@jpmf.ca.

Event Sponsors

Without the help of event sponsors, JPMF events wouldn’t take place. We are always looking for great ideas for events that can raise funds for the Memorial Fund and raise awareness about our positive impact on the community. Such events rely on financial sponsors and in-kind sponsors to cover the costs of hosting and participating in events and to ensure that funds raised at these events will help promote awareness about workplace and traffic safety issues facing emergency responders. Many events require donations of food, beverages, equipment, commercial space, prizes, volunteers and safety resources. If you have an idea for a fundraising or community event, or if you would like to support an upcoming event, contact JPMF Managing Director Ian Wilson at ian@jpmf.ca. As is the case with campaign sponsors, event sponsors are also recognized through our website, social networking sites, relevant press materials, relevant printed materials, event ads and with banners at our events.

Ongoing Sponsors

There’s no need to wait for specific JPMF campaigns or events to become a valued sponsor. Sponsorships are always important to us and they’re always welcome. If you believe in the work we’re doing, please contact us about becoming a sponsor. We’re open to new ideas and new partnerships that help sustain the valuable work we do and offer the appropriate recognition to our supporters. Contact JPMF Managing Director Ian Wilson at ian@jpmf.ca for more information about sponsorship opportunities.
